The Basics

Hard Drive: The huge 200 GB Ultra DMA hard drive (7200 RPM) offers more than enough storage for all your documents, digital photos (approximately 200,000 2-megapixel images) and video (approximately 11 hours of .avi video), and MP3 collection (up to 2,500 CDs).
Processor: The 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading technology (which allows a single CPU system to behave in some aspects like a dual-CPU system--see more in Tech Talk section below) is one of the fastest processors currently available on the market. It is well suited for high-performance gaming and professional-quality image, audio, and video editing. It also has a 512 KB L2 cache and 800 MHz front-side buss (FSB).
Memory: The m480n comes with a 512 MB built-in memory (1 x 512 MB PC-3200 DDR SDRAM)--a decent amount for starters, but you'll want to add more to take full advantage of the capabilities of Windows Media Center. The motherboard has two memory sockets for a maximum memory expansion of 2 GB.
CD/DVD Drive: The m480n has two DVD drives: a 16x DVD-ROM for playing music, movies, and games and a DVD+RW burner for writing data and video to disc. For DVDs, it has 8x write, 4x rewrite, 12x read speeds; for CDs, it writes at 24x, rewrites at 10x, and reads at 40x. It's compatible with the DVD+RW format, one of two formats for rewriteable DVDs.
Keyboard & Mouse: It comes with HP's Media Center keyboard with full multimedia control (PS/2 connection) and wireless optical mouse.

Sound and Graphics
The m480n features the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 video/graphics card with 128 MB of DDR video memory. It's a strong performer for 3-D PC games and offers a TV-out connection, which enables you to view your computer display on your TV, and a DVI connection, which allows output to a flat panel monitor. The integrated sound card uses the AC'97 (Audio Codec '97) standard (configurable to 6 channels of audio). The m480n comes with a three-piece set of Altec Lansing 221 speakers (1 subwoofer and 2 satellites).

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
For expansion, the m480n has two 5.25-inch external bays (both occupied), four 3.5-inch bays (one internal bay available), three PCI slots (two available), and one AGP 8x slot (available). It comes with a built-in floppy drive and the following external connectors:

I don't pretend to be a major audiophile. When purchasing a receiver, I wanted surround sound and excellent quality music and video playback. This piece is the cornerstone of my stereo set, which includes a TV, CD player, DVD, VCR, and a surround-sound setup. In making the decision to purchase this item, I listened to a couple of my favorite CDs on it (in a stereo store connected to speakers similar to mine), and the sound was clearly superior to other receivers in its price range, and most priced up to $300 more. The remote control and face of the set are easy to decipher, unlike many other systems that try to overwhelm you with useless buttons. My one complaint is that it is difficult to perform some functions (switching inputs, etc) because the face is very dark. They could improve this minor flaw with lighted buttons. I expect this to be part of my stereo system for many, many years.

I bought this receiver after listening a Technics DD receiver. The sound response is better, THD lower. Its sound is soft and clear. The DSP is sharp in every mode.

Can't beat the price for what you get: High class music and voice messages which are a great combination. Biggest problem with these is that after a year or so, the CD player wears out. The CD should be downloaded to an MP3 player for the long term.

Tough bag, holds an amazing amount of things.......2007-08-04

This bag hold my 17" Sony Vaio A720 which does not fit in most bags advertised to fit 17" notebooks. Along with the notebook I have the power chord, a full size mouse, travel router, blank CDs, Multiple Memory card reader, VPN tokens, travel HDD (3.5"), 8.5x11 notebook, ipod, Webcam, all the related wires and cables, and lot of other odds and ends.

The organization is well thought out and it has a lot of pockets. I like the second main compartment. I put my paper notebook there along with several manila folders and magazines. There is another zippered compartment outside that to put flat documents as well.

At one time I even added a change of clothes into the bag for an overnight job.

Probably one of the best features of the bag is the ugly plastic thing in front. When I unlatch it, I can fit one of those 96+ CD holder things (approx 2" thick) into it or a full size external HDD (with cables). I just shove a ton of things into this bag.

Naturally this bag gets heavy. However, the shoulder strap is very comfortable and I've walked pretty far with it fully loaded and up 4 flights of stairs without too much trouble. Again, that's not to say it didn't get heavy. However the bag is well balanced and really distributes the weight.

I've had this bag for 3 years and the seams are holding very well, the zipper is great and there are barely any signs of wear on the bag. As a consultant I drag this bag with me everywhere and it's still like new.

My [...]$ Philips surround sound, in-ear plugs I picked up at a CVS pharmacy sounds ten times better than this piece of crap. This is so heavy with bass that I couldn't even hear some instruments that I knew were in the high ranges! Don't believe those reviewers that suggest that a set of headphones needs to be broken in! Better to return this before the thirty days return time period elapses. Awful!!

Yes - these produce very VERY low lows. However, I have found the mids and highs to be adequate.

There was one review that spoke about what you are looking for primarily - I believe that applies a great deal here. I do agree that they are indeed very good in terms of bass and also I find that the mids and highs to be good as well.

If you have the option to listen to them before you buy - do that and utilize various genres while you are listening.

If you are NOT bass person or one who can appreciate or at the very least handle bass - then don't go for them. Other than that - GET THEM!

These headphones sound awful. There is all sorts of hype on the packaging about how they contain the latest technology - they even tout that the headphone lead uses oxygen free copper! What a con. All the other bad reviews are correct in saying that these headphones are low grade boom boxes with a muffled midband and virtually no treble. Give them a good listen before you part with the cash

Too much Bass.......2006-08-21

I bought these headphones in Europe, thus I left all the packaging and receipts that these came with in whatever hostel I was staying in at the time. If this weren't the case, I would have returned them by now.

When you first use them, if your coming from a point in time where you have no other decent sounding equipment, these will seem amazing to you. You'll much more depth in sound, and you'll be impressed with their ability to produce such lows without breaking.

This was the case for me. But when I returned to the U.S. and bought studio monitors for audio production necessities, I realized that these headphones simply don't cut it, in not only professional situations, but also in normal recreational use.

I guess my ears have been conditioned by now to expect clear and untainted sound, but even in other consumer speakers do I find more mids and highs than in these cans.

These are simply too bass heavy. If you're into music that produces a lot of heavy drums and deep bass synths, then these may be a little fun but fatigue your ears rather quickly. If your music is motivated by the mids and highs, stay very far away, because honestly, you won't enjoy you're music very much. And that's really what it comes down to, whether or not these headphones will allow you to enjoy your music the most for the amount you paid, and the sad truth is that they won't.
