Amazon.com Product Description
The HP Pavilion a720n is a great entry level PC that's ready for your multimedia needs. It's powered by Windows XP Home Edition and it features a 2.20 GHz Athlon XP 3200+ processor, 512 MB RAM, and extra-large 200 GB hard drive. It comes with two drives: a CD-ROM and a dual-layer DVD+RW. It's bundled with a variety of software, including HP Image Zone Plus digital photography software, aimed to get you online and capturing, editing, and sharing your digital photos, audio, and video.
The Basics
- Hard Drive: The massive 200 GB Ultra DMA hard drive (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space, perfect for storing a vast multimedia collection or for editing digital video.
- Processor: The 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor offers a high level of performance--speedy enough for PC gaming, graphic design software, and multimedia creation. It also features an advanced 462 MHz front-side bus (FSB) speed and a 512 KB L2 cache.
- Memory: The A720N comes with a 512 MB built-in memory (1 x 512 MB DDR SDRAM, PC2700)--a good start for power users. It only has a 1 GB maximum memory expansion (2 x 512 MB).
- CD/DVD Drive: This desktop PC comes with two optical drives: a CD--ROM for reading CDs and a double-layer DVD+RW drive for writing both DVDs and CDS. With double-layered DVD+R/RW discs, you can store up to 8.5 GB of data. The DVD+R/RW drive has 8x write and 4x rewrite speeds. You can burn CDs at 24x and rewrite at 10x.
- Keyboard & Mouse: The A720N comes with an HP Internet keyboard and scroller mouse (both with PS/2 connections).
Sound and Graphics
The A720N features audio and video cards that are integrated into the computer's main board. The sound card uses the AC'97 (Audio Codec '97) standard (configurable to 6 channels of audio). The video/graphics card has up to 64 MB of shared video memory. It is suitable for good range of gaming graphics and multimedia video playback, but might not stack up for ultra-realistic 3-D PC games.
Connectivity and Expansion Slots
For expansion, the A720N has two 5.25-inch external bays (none available), two 3.5-inch bays (one available), three PCI slots (two available), and one AGP 8x slot (available). It comes with a built-in floppy drive and the following external connectors:
- 7 USB 2.0 ports (3 in front, 4 in rear) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
- 2 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) ports for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals (1 in front, 1 in rear)
- 1 parallel port for connecting older printers and scanners
- 2 PS/2 ports for connecting keyboards and mice
- 1 VGA monitor port
- 1 serial port for older peripherals such as early PDAs
- 1 microphone, 1 headphone, and 1 line-in jack in the front
- 9-in-1 media card reader on the front, compatible with CompactFlash (Type I and II), MicroDrive, Smaredia, Memory Stick/Memory Stick Pro, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digitial, and XD Picture Card
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems). It also has a hot-swappable bay for adding an optional optical drive or second battery.
Preloaded System and Software
This system comes with the Windows XP Home Edition operating system, and it also features Microsoft Works (for working with word processing and spreadsheet documents). Other preloaded software includes Quicken New User Edition 2004, Norton Antivirus 2004 (with 60-day LiveUpdate subscription) and Personal Firewall 2003, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Encarta Encyclopedia 2004 Standard Edition, HP Image Zone Plus, RecordNow 7.2 (for burning CDs), WinDVD SE 5.0 (for DVD playback), and Apple iTunes.
The included HP Image Zone Plus photo and imaging software makes it easy to organize, edit, share, print, protect, and store your photos and video clips. Organize and find your photos easily by timeline, keywords, and/or location using the unique photo-globe mapping tool. Remove red eye and fix other common problems. Share your photos quickly via e-mails that include thumbnails with links to the full-sized images--without downloading time-consuming attachments.
Dimensions and Weight
It measures 15.2 x 16.5 x 7.5 (W x D x H).

Customer Reviews:
If your a GAMER dont buy this machine.......2006-01-01
I purchased the computer about a year ago and am pleased with its processing speed and ablility do run differnt programs easily. I also love the fact that it comes with 6 months of norton so every six i back up everything and reboot the comp cause im to lazy to by a year package. I have been able to run games like Diablo 2 and other games but recently i tried to install Age of Empires 3 and it runs it but doesnt have the graphics to run it smoothly. If u enjoy your pc games dont buy it if u just want to search the internet and all those little things its a great comp.
A little disappointed...........2004-12-29
After two weeks of use I will say that this unit is probably worth the money and I've enjoyed the digital photo editing features. However, after deleting all of the superfluous junk that's always bundled into a new PC I still find the comp a little slow under multi task load. Also, the first game I installed was Sid Meier's Pirates. It will not run. The integrated motherboard graphics aren't up to the task. I'm looking for a new VGA card that won't overheat my system now. If you're a gamer, don't buy this unit. AS
Nice System..........2004-11-05
Two points, It does NOT come with a floppy drive however a external USB floppy drive is avaliable from HP for $49. Also I have'nt yet found a way to install a second internal hard drive. Those are really my only two complaints. A top notch fast multi media system. It DOES come with Microsoft Works and Money plus a bunch of graphic software.
This system replaced a 2 year old Gateway equipped with a Intel Pentium IV processor rated also at 2.2 gh. The HP is a noticeable faster machine. Flight Sim 2001 runs with measurable faster frame rates. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Customer Reviews:
Exceeds expectations!!.......2007-09-07
Rarely in life is one's expectations of a simple black telephone exceeded. Imagine my surprise when I found that this phone not only works, but you can talk and hear the other person talking! And as if that were not enough, they even announce that it is time to use it by having it ring when someone calls you. The fact that it is inexpensive, and will operate when there is a power outage, makes this almost better than having healthy children! I'm pretty satisfied, but I must now go, because I want to use that fabulous phone again!
Panasonic Corded Telephone.......2007-03-12
Basic phone with minimal features. Handset is a little light and is not so easy to hang up when wall mounted. Could be a little smaller. Bought as a replacement for the basic Sony corded phone which has a better feel but is no longer available.

Customer Reviews:
This product sucks!!!!.......2007-08-11
Do not..I repeat... DO NOT waste your money on this thing..it is garbage!!!! you have to carry around a stack of batteries just to take more than 5 pictures. There is a delayed second flash so unless you tell everyone your taking pictures of to wait for both flashes your going to get a lot of blurry faces. The picture quality is disgusting and impossible to edit. You can't take any close up pictures with the flash on because all you would see is hair and eyes.. I recently used it at a wedding and tried to take decent pictures from 3 rows away but even that failed to produce anything nice. When I took some pictures outdoors everybody including the background was blue...please save your self the frustration and opt for a more better quality camera..
JUST BOUGHT IT AND LOVE IT!.......2006-04-05
The camera is very easy to use, I just received it last week and can't wait to start using it. I took a couple of shots just to see how it worked and it's very easy. It has a big screen on the back...and it's also easy to hook up to a pc.
Perfect for the girls...my other camera was too big to take out when partying and this one fits perfectly in my purse. And if I lose...oh well, no big deal, it's so inexpensive!!
Highly breakable, confusing P.O.S........2006-03-18
We bought this for our 12-year old in December 2005 and just threw it out after taking 0 acceptable photos with it. We already have 2 other digital cameras in the house and have used them extensively for two years so this was not a user problem.
1. 2 crucial buttons fell off in one month. We used a paper clip instead.
2. All photos we've taken have been orange-cast, dark, and blurry.
3. The on-off switch is malfunctioning. It's almost impossible to turn the camera off, which means the batteries run down quickly.
4. The user manual has no information on how to correct image problems. We have yet to find any on-line help.
5. Buttons on the camera are tiny and hard to use. Button functions are extremely difficult to figure out unless you have the manual on your knee. Not an intuitive design at all.
We had high hopes for this camera and bought it because of a few good reviews and the camera's sleek design.
Don't waste your money on this.
Great little camera, but not worth $100.......2006-02-28
I like this camera, and it is very cute. I love the fact that it is "the size of a credit card", and it fits in most pockets. The problems that I have with it, though, are these:
1. It takes the flash about 10 seconds on average to get ready
2. When the flash is ready, it isn't very effective and usualy makes the picture worse
3. The pictures end up being blurry unless you keep your hand perfectly still
4. The button that you move around to look at pictures and do different things with can be easily broken and isn't very manageable
These are the four problems I have with this camera. I got this camera because it was cute and small. If that is your reason, you can't get much better, but if you want to take nice pictures, I suggest getting another brand.
This is a great camera.......2006-02-04
I have no idea what the other people are ranting about. Sure, this is not the top of the line camera, but hey, you didn't pay a lot of money for it, either. You get what you pay for. And for what I paid for, I'd say I got a pretty great deal. The camera is really portable and takes great picture, now I really can't go anywhere without it.

Customer Reviews:
Love it.......2006-10-22
I bought the Samsung SyncMaster 940B in silver from a different retailer and its a great monitor. I work with dell flat screens at my job and I was amazed at how much brighter and sharper than the ones at work. I wasn't happy with the place I bought it from because they didn't send me any manuals, drivers , or anything. The good thing is that I was able to go on the Samsung website and download all the drivers and the manual that is why I chose Samsung over any other because I have had good experience with Samsung.
You've got to be Kidding.......2006-10-12
Going right back to my old CRT monitor as soon as I finish typing this. To start: blurry, blurry, blurry!!!!!!!!! And no amount of adjustment seems to fix this. I can barely read type on the monitor. Also, the screen tilts forward and isn't adjustable. You know you've made a mistake when you prefer your 15" CRT. This one is going back right now.
Wow, super nice!.......2006-03-04
No dead pixels, brain-dead setup and clean crisp picture.
The color of the monitor was spot on out of the box using one of the pre-sets.
I fired up the Color-Magic software that it came packaged with...But then thought "Why fiddle"? It looked great as it was. I can see how people can get all screwed up by messing with the colors too much (Did that when I got my TV). The interface for Color-Magic is not the most intuitive when it comes to adjusting the color. "Close eyes half way and adjust inner-squares to match the outside" Sounds easy but if you saw it, you'd know what I mean.
The only adjustments I did were, brightness (you need sunglasses with the default setting), sharpness and contrast.
It does NOT come with a DVI-D cable, just an old analog RGB cable...If your video card supports it, use a DVI-D cable. Digital display + Digital Cable + Digital output from video card= Niiiccce! It can run in analog mode but then...well you know.
Don't spend $60 on a DVI-D cable...Go to Newegg.com and get a 6' one for $12.95 (at time of this writing). Also, the monitor takes a male-end cable, check your card to be sure what cable end it needs (most likely male too). A male-male cable is what worked for my setup.
Been doing some gaming on it and let me just say that things never looked better. Super sharp and crisp images and with a 8MS....no ghosting (as some CRT loyalists will try to convince you of).
So all said and done...
Pros
1. Uses half the electricity of a CRT
2. MUCH smaller footprint than a CRT (more room on my desk now!)
3. Almost zero heat out-put compared to CRTs...I'm gonna love that come summer
4. Less eye strain and headaches
5. Better picture, IMHO.
Cons
1. The base is limited in adjustability.
2. Doesn't come with a DVI-D cable.
3. Three hours cleaning the computer desk/room to make way for it.
4. Trying to pawn off your old CRT.
So yeah, this is a nice monitor but keep in mind that I'm running it on a Geforce TI4600 128MB card. Yeah, it's not a high-end SLI PCI Express blah blah blah card, but it's a respectably good gaming card no matter what the snobs say. That being said, your quality of picture may not be as nice if you are using an old on-board video output or an ancient video card. Not that it's going to be bad, you just might not rave over it. You can get a descent video card for under a hundred dollars, just stick with Nvidia and you can't go wrong.
I would have given it 5 stars if made toast...But you can't have every thing. *Shrugs*
Great Display.......2006-02-28
First off let me say that reviewer J. Burke is either clueless or got a bad monitor. I love mine. The colors are clear and bright and image is clear and smooth in games like Battlefield 2. Text looks great too, as I am a web designer and programmer and look at code often. I also have the 930B at work which is also a very good LCD display. Overall, I think Samsung is top notch. Between work and home I've been around 8 Samsung LCD's and not a single one had a bad pixel. My only complaint is that samsung needs to stop being cheap-skates and include a DVI cable in the box.
Wonderful 19" LCD Monitor.......2006-01-24
I can't help not writing a review after reading the previous 1-star review. I bought this one during Christmas sales. I love it right away after I plugged it in. I used a eVGA 6200 graphics card with DVI output. I don't need to adjust any color settings and it already looks gorgeous. The resolution is so sharp and colors are so vivid. I love the Magic Color button which allows you to choose from a list of preset color settings. Very easy to use. I usually choose a brighter setting in the morning and a dimmer one at night. I use a Dell 1905FP at work and I have to admit that 940B is a better monitor than 1905FP. And cheaper too. The only disadvantage is that 1905FP has a very nice height-adjustable stand. The one coming with the 940B looks a bit cheap, but functional. I'm looking foward to buying a wall-mount LCD stand for my 940B :) To make it more convincing to you, I want to tell you that I love this monitor so much that I already bought a 2nd one for my wife. And you can guess her reaction :)
