I was reading the reviews for the CDS4100 and someone wanted to know where toget the external. I got one at Target with multiple card ports. My problem is that I formatted the card in XP and now my camera doesnt read the card. How do i fix that?

Never Buying RCA.......2004-01-13

ITS not just XP guys... its windows 2000 too! Sure you can buy MORE products just to use it, but why? RCA its going to lose A LOT of business on this on!

CAVEAT EMPTOR!.......2003-10-01

RCA has really let the consumer have it on this camera! It works fine on Windows 95 and 98, but you will end up with hours of frustration and difficulty if you happen to upgrade your system to XP. The RCA digital camera tech told me on the phone that the camera and XP are incompatible and I could only run the camera on Windows 98. He said something about buying a flashcard, hooking that up, and then hung up on me. I will never buy another RCA product again as long as I live. Instead of developing a driver to work with XP, they just discontinued the camera. So buyer beware: THIS CAMERA IS CURRENTLY DISCONTINUED AND THERE ARE NO DRIVERS FOR XP. There's a file you can download from RCA that's suppose to update the drivers, but it doesn't work, and there is no one available with RCA to help you figure out how to make it work. Your $200 is better spent elsewhere. Take it from someone who spent $400.

Where There is a will There is a way!.......2003-07-10

I brought Rca cds4100 2 years ago I was using Windows 98 then upgrade to Windows Me my camera worked fine When I want to upgrade to Windows XP at first I could'nt use the camera.
But of course I would find a way. You see when I purchased my camera it came with an compact flash card external reader and I used it so I would'nt have to attach the camera to my computer. Here's the information you are seeking! Take your pictures take out the external flash card and put in the reader and you can use it With Windows XP Because the external reader comes up in Windows XP as a drive as it did in 98 and ME. You click on that drive and all the pictures you have taken are displayed. Now it would'nt work with the 8mb card that came with the camera. So I brought a PNY compact flash card 128mb and it works perfectly. I really never like attaching my camera to the computer anyway so this just made it easier. It works fine with Windows Xp If your like me who spent 400.00 for this camera and I was not giving up that easy.I look at it like this I would have to buy another camera and it only cost me 30.00 for the 128mb compact flash card. So I think I got off cheap.
