With a plasma screen you get vivid colors like you've never seen before, extremely wide viewing angles (wider, even, than those of most LCD screens), and easy placement due to a plasma monitor's slim profile--the PDP-4350HD is a mere 3.7 inches deep, perfect for desk or wall mounting. Brightness tends to be extremely uniform across plasma screens, which are also impervious to the picture distortion and negative color balances that afflict CRT monitors when placed near lighting or sound systems.

The PDP-4350HD is packaged with a stand-alone media receiver equipped with an ATSC terrestrial HDTV tuner and a full set of interfaces, including a next-generation High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). This all-digital, high-bandwidth interface can transfer huge amounts of pure, digital data at very fast rates.

The media receiver is compatible with high-definition terrestrial broadcast transmissions as well as NTSC (standard definition) broadcasts, both of which factor into the set's 2-tuner PIP (picture-in-picture) performance. The media receiver also manages an array of inputs, including satellite, cable, DVD, DVR/VCR, and computer signals up to XGA (1,024 x 768).

All incoming digital signals go through no analog-to-digital conversion. By minimizing or eliminating the A/D or D/A conversions, Pioneer reduces various kinds of digital "noise."

Advanced PureCinema maintains faithful and accurate reproduction of film-based content. Pioneer was the first to introduce advanced film detection using 3:3 film-to-video conversion at 72 Hz in a plasma display. This renders film content smoothly and naturally, closer to what you'd see in a movie theater. Previously, televisions offered only 3:2 film-to-video conversion at 60 Hz, which--while still a great improvement over unprocessed video--nevertheless resulted in visible onscreen artifacts, such as slightly uneven motion.

Pioneer's Advanced Continuous-Emission display technology III (ACE III) represents another first, eliminating false contours that can appear in close-ups of faces. This improved 10-bit processing allows 1,792 gradation steps for each cell, so the television can display smooth transitions from dark to light areas without losing detail or compromising the image contrast. ACE II works with PureDrive to permit the set to display more than a billion colors.

Connections abound: choose from 17 digital and analog terminals, including dual HDMI and IEEE 1394 (i.Link) connections, a front-panel RGB jack for easy connection to a PC or Macintosh output, and a range of composite-, component-, and S-video inputs. S-video/composite-video/RF tuner outputs foster hookup with ancillary devices such as DVRs or VCRs. The set also includes side-mounted speakers and a tabletop stand that swivels.

For each LCD bigot who wants to flame this review, remove your hands from the keyboard and take an aspirin. If you're deciding on which technology to buy, skip the technology, get to the stores, and decide by 1) the picture and 2) what you want your TV to do. If you feel a true HD signal is critical, don't buy a 1024x768 Pioneer TV. Find a TV that will support a minimum of 1280x780. If you simply want a great-looking TV with a great picture that your family will use as the living room workhorse and you want to spend the money, strongly consider this Pioneer.

Caveat: I consider myself a technically-adept person who enjoys hooking up electronics. Rarely has stereo, TV, or other device directions confused, confounded, or otherwise stymied my eventual setup success.

Plasma wins in our household. This television has fantastic picture, a very good and relatively easy-to-program remote, and a fine set of speakers that produce crisp, but not full, sound. Hooking up our DVD player was simple, and progressive scan DVD looks tremendous. Out of the box picture color seemed very red, but changes are easily accessible via the good remote and menu system. (For great directions on how to change contrast, saturation and other items, CNET.com has a fantastic step-by-step guide at http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6463_7-5085739-1.html.) More difficult has been to get the remote to recognize and substitute for our ScientificAtlanta cablebox/DVR. There are only 4 inputs (1 under the front panel) on the receiver box, a limitation if you're heavily invested in audio/visual equipment.

Be aware that the shipping box weighs 174 pounds, with six boxes inside. Setup is not difficult with a modicum of patience; for example, figuring out which mounting brackets to use based on the speakers that come with the TV is buried in multiple step directions.

This is a fine television. It looks beautiful as any fine furniture would, and it functions exactly as we need it to. Picture is very good, and the remote is backlit and nicely laid out. Now, prepare yourself for seeing a lot of standard TV get s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d until you learn about the Screen Size button on the remote...

Garbage.......2004-05-23

I have never in my life struggled so much to operate a digital camera. I have some experience in hooking digicams up, but this was the absolute worst. The instruction manual is terrible, this thing has horrible battery life, and the picture quality is unacceptable. Spare yourself the trouble and don't get this camera. This was just another corporate screw-up.

I've been researching and pricing tripods for about a month now, but when this deal came along with free shipping, I couldn't resist. I have looked at the Velbon DF-40 in photo departments of stores and really like the versatility and quality of this model, and when I received my order from Amazon, several days early and in excellent condition, I was NOT disappointed. It does everything I need a tripod to do, and it's very easy to transport just about anywhere because of it's compact size. I didn't give it five stars because it's a really good tripod, not great. Having said that, Great Tripods cost $150 or better, Really Good Tripods will usually cost between $75-$100. At $30.00, this tripod is unbelievable.

Overpriced - consider a new printer.......2007-08-09

This is not so much Amazon's fault, but here's a printer that sold for well under a thousand dollars, depending on when you bought it.

Typically, Konica-Minolta sold its laser printers with short life laser cartridges, i.e. a capacity about half of the normal units. when time rolls around to replace black, you're looking at a substantially higher price than when the printer was dropped for another.

If you've replaced all the carts as I have, you're sometimes spending more than a pretty good color laser costs now, i.e. somewhere over $600. The black goes first. So I'm on the third -- it's going to last a while. For the most part, I use an old, reliable HP4050 which was so common that there is price competition for cartridges. Printing monochrome on the HP costs about a third of what the 5420DL does.

Every printer make tries to make their profit from consummables. Some of the printer makers wind up being much more expensive over the longer term than others. KM is one of them.
