Good bargain monitor - not for critical or intense use.......2005-08-18

If you will use this monitor for many hours per day or you need a monitor that will have an excellent color rendition, then you may wish to look elsewhere. Text is not pin-prick sharp - certainly compared to my other LCD screen (Sharp 19") and colours are not even across the screen.

HOWEVER, for occassional, non-critical use, I find this monitor to be a GOOD choice blending very good value with good looks and acceptable performance.

Would I buy another one just like it? Probably not - but I am not unhappy with having bought it.

I personally found this monitor to be very good.

I have always had a good experience with Planar monitors. Hook up was easy and I did not notice any defects.

I used the monitor for some medium to high gaming. ( Call of Duty, American Conquest etc.. ) and so far have had no issues with gaming.

It may not be the top end for gaming but it is above average for sure !!

Aspect ratio: The aspect ratio refers to the shape of the video image. Traditional television has a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is almost square in appearance. Digital television has either a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio. A 16:9 aspect ratio is widescreen and appears rectangular, which looks more like a movie screen, filling more of the viewer's field of vision for a more lifelike viewing experience.

2-year Life Expectancy.......2007-09-05

I bought this around December 2004. Initially I was happy about it because pricing was good for that time and it had several good reviews. Performance was very good in the beginning. After a few months, a problem started, everytime you are watching a bright scene (i.e. an explosion, a really white/bright scene like snow) the screen would turn to blue (like a computer). It would turn into a bluescreen until the bright scene ends (a few seconds usually). We tolerated this problem because it wasn't really that expensive to begin with and it was a slight inconvenience. Next problem is the black screen. Around October 2006, whenever we turn on the TV, the light would turn on (the blue led in front) and you would hear the audio but the screen would shut off. There would be sound, power and you would hear the humming sound indicating the device is on but no video. At first you could fix it by turning off the TV, then turning it on again a few times. It progressively got worse until turning it off and on didn't work anymore. Around early 2007 we gave it up for dead.

It has a short lifespan.......2007-03-30

This Tv worked great for a year and a half. It progressively started going black, and recently went completely black. While you can hear the audio the picture is gone, no picture, not even on. Very disappointing. So to all of you gushing over this tv right now, be afraid, be very afraid.

Problems with two different units.......2006-11-02

I bought my first LT30HV LCD TV in December, 2004. After about 8 or 9 months I would continually lose the picture. After several discussions with Customer Service (they had me try various things to correct the problem), they decided to ship me a new TV. I received it in early October, 2005 & everything was fine - at first. About 10 months later, the set started going black after it was first turned on & I had to turn it off & then on again. Over the course of the next couple of months, this problem got progressively worse. Now, I sometimes have to turn it off & on 10 to 20 times before it will stay on. So, I have had two sets -- neither of which worked a full year. Also, I found out that the second set that was sent to me was a refurbished set. I have spoken with technical support and customer service on many occasions but they refuse to do anything about it because it is "out of warranty".

Not Reliable and Customer Service is Poor.......2006-10-17

Everything your read about the picture quality is true... however, this product just isn't reliable. Cost me another $600 to get it fixed and it isn't even 18 months old. I am sure I am not alone since you can see these on that famous auction site may with similar power issues. Customer service from this company is also very poor. If I had it to do over I would not have purchased this product and I probably should not have spent the money to get it fixed. I think it will be just a matter of time before some of these 5 star reviews begin to change their tune.

Almost great........2006-09-29

Do NOT buy this unit for your bedroom; the blue off-light is bright
enough to read by so, instead of simply turning the set off from bed, I then have to get up and block the light. Other than that small (?) flaw, it's a good-looking, functional TV.
