This camera is not worth a penny. I cant think of anything else to describe it. The color, image and lighting came out blurry and unclear. I would not recommend this item at all. Spend a little extra money on another good quality of polaroid camera. If there were negative ratings, this camera definitely belonged to that range.

Sure, the picture quality isn't nearly as good as a 35mm. Sure, the film is expensive and you only get ten exposures.

However, it's an INSTANT CAMERA. They're not known for their superior picture clarity and amazing color. If that's what you're looking for, then don't buy this camera.

I don't know a lot about cameras. I don't know anything about Polaroid and the technology behind the Polaroid One, but I can tell you that I am 100% pleased with this camera as it fits my needs perfectly. I'm using it to take a photograph every day of my 15 month old son to send to my husband who is doing a year long tour in Iraq.

The camera is uncomplicated, relatively compact, and the film loads easily. The picture quality is better than what I remember from my childhood in the 70s, but not much. (Again, I'm not complaining. I expected this. The purpose for stating that is so others will not expect too much.)

If you're buying it for a specific purpose and not to be your primary camera, then you'll be 110% satisfied. I am.

One of the Best Polaroids.......2003-10-30

I've used Polaroid cameras off and on since the Swinger came out in the 60's. I've had the SX-70 and the One Step. The Polaroid One is by far the easiest to use. The LCD film counter on the back is easy to read and the pictures are clear. The camera takes type 660 film or even takes type 779 professional film for better colors and better clarity. The camera is solidly built, fits into your hand comfortably and is easy to carry thanks to a two position hand strap. Polaroids have always been fun cameras. This one is no exception.

If you're in the perfect lighting this camera takes good pictures but most of the pictures I've taken are very blury or the colors are way off.

Polaroids generally are a little awkward to handle, but this one is a very good basic model with very easy-to-use and fundamental features (red-eye reduction, timer). It handles light in a straightforward fashion, but can also be sensitive and manipulated for nice effect. Also, I dropped it on the floor and it kept working - you can't ask for more than that.

Good & Affordable.......2006-02-18

If youre looking for an affordable simple camera, may be for kids, this is it. It has easy commands, the flash works fine and does not drain the batteries. you can take fast good photos. For the price you can not go wrong. They could improve the software a little. The cable is cheap and it takes AAA batteries.

Incompatible with WinXP.......2003-10-12

The camera is lightweight and comes with the USB/serial port attachments, but unfortunately it's not compatible with WinXP. Going to the Polaroid website is no help. After emailing and searching the site, I found the appropriate drivers for XP.

Taking pictures is a snap, the instructions are very easy to follow, the pictures are so-so, best to take pics during daylight. It's a good entry into digi-cam if you're not familiar with uploading pics to the computer.

you seriously get what you pay for.......2003-09-11

This camera is nothing special. It's cheap, which is good (especially for people like me). But the picture quality really isn't that good, and I'm saying this wholeheartedly.

I bought it for my website. I write stupid and sometimes not so stupid articles about random things, and I thought it was about time I had a functional digital camera to help flesh them out.

I've had this thing for about two weeks now, and I've come to this conclusion: really good/not-so-bad pictures are only available under bright daylight, while any other condition usually produces very average/poor-looking photographs.

Indoors is mostly a no-no, unless you have a lot of light (opening some windows does help). The photographs from normally-lit indoor settings create an ugly grainy effect. Also, even if the camera is completely still and so is your subject, it ocassionally looks like you've been moving the camera while the shutter was open -- making the pictures unnecessarily blurry.

In fact, I haven't had much luck with the quality of the focus -- almost all of my results look a tad blurry.

The software DOES work with Windows XP, you just have to go to Polaroid's official site and read a tutorial on how to get it to a functional state.

If you have Photoshop, the "special effects" that can be used on your photographs are entirely useless. Even if you don't, you probably won't be using them all that often (one finds only so much excitement out of making a picture look incredibly distorted).

Then there's a problem with even well-lit daylight pictures -- at it's normal resolution (640x480), it can sometimes look like a painting. Instead of nice detailed surroundings, you may have little blobs of color everywhere. Reducing the size helps matters, but it's unforunate that I have to do that anyway. The size 640x480 isn't asking for a lot, now is it?

The packaging itself is less than stellar, too. The camera is made out of thin plastic that sometimes feels like it's going to break.

The uploading speed is fast, if you have a USB connection. And it's a great camera for starters, especially younger kids who sometimes could care a less about how great or how not great their pictures look. It IS a digital camera, it DOES make pictures appear onto your computer. So they'll have some enjoyment with it at least.

But I myself am frankly disappointed. What else could I expect from a camera this cheap? I'm looking forward to another digital camera purchase soon. Compared to the more reliable expensive cameras, this is just a piece of junk.

When it comes to electronics you get what u pay for. This camera is extremely basic. It has a flash which is almost too bright for its own good, this along with the camera's sensitivity to extreme light/dark makes its usefullness very enviromentally dependent. Overall picture quality depends on whether or not you can remain EXTREMELY still when ur taking it. All in all maybe usefull for frugal ebayers who need images. Not a good camera for significant moments in life type stuff. Save them pennies cause this camera ain't worth the shiping and handleing.

Since owning the Polaroid PDC6400cf I have made many photos of different situations inside and outside.My landscape results have been most satisifing.Interrior shots have been satisifing with lighting of interior lights.Flash photos have been ok,but not the best.Ease of operation most satisifing.Battery life without using the monitor held up well.Thanks Poladoid for my beginners digital camera.Harry S.Adams

Correction regarding Phone and preamps.......2007-07-03

Most (all?) modern phonographs have pre-amps built-in. If this is true in your case, then yes you can hook the phonograph to the CD, tape or other 'line-level' inputs.

If you have an older phonograph that does not have a built-in preamp, then you will either need to hook it up to a 'phono' input that is designed for this purpose, or you will need an additional preamp so that you can connect it to a line-level input.

This is because older phonographs, just like many microphones have a very low signal level. The preamp amplifies this low level signal to 'line-level' that your (speaker) amplifier is used to dealing with.

fully adequate when working.......2006-12-24

Purchased via Amazon 9+ months ago, and I was satisfied for the first few months. It did the job as my music sounded fine. But problems arose. It has inputs for Tape/Aux/CD/Tuner/Phono ~ and I installed 3 of the inputs (Aux/CD/Tape). Now it won't tell one from another - sometimes it plays CD when you push Aux, or Aux when you push Tape, othertimes it takes a power-off/power-on to find the Aux source. And the volume control is wacko - the volume gauge runs from 1 to 62, and I play cd's at around level 15, the aux. source at around 30 and Tapes at 40 ~ all to the same level of loudness. When switching to CD after an Aux. input I get BLASTED if I don't remember to turn down the volume.
So my sister loaned me a Denon (a higher-end stereo receiver line) and I was surprised at the step up (cost to value.) Suddenly I'm aware the Teac had (at best) a poor surround system, and a poor interface, and no subwoofer, central speaker, functionable surround options. So was the Denon worth $130? Yes, the quality of sound to the main speakers is fine, and worth $130 if it worked properly (I obviously got a defective unit.) But maybe I should have saved up and gotten a Denon (or equivalent higher-end) in the first place ($500) ~ having access to surround, central, subwoofer etc. is wonderful.

Ultimately Disappointed.......2006-12-05

I purchased two of these receivers. One still functions fine, but causes a distinct hum in my speakers, regardless of input. The second one causes the same hum and the speaker switches are broken after a year of use (and now out of warranty.)

If you are looking for a standalone receiver, spend the extra $$ and get a real receiver. This one is barely passable.

A good receiver with (currently) rare features!.......2005-11-20

This receiver has a mechanical on/off switch and a (short 3 day ??) memory on settings. The remote will also turn the unit to 'standby' if the front switch is left "on". The other controls are tactile, but will hold settings if unit is unplugged / reconnected. It is now unusual for a receiver to be controlled (on/off) by terminating the power to it, without losing the previous settings. This was important to my application. It also has a 'loudness' control which is strangely absent on the new receivers. I will not own a receiver without a loudness function!

It also has a 'phono' input which has gone away on all others. Contrary to what the salesmen said, a 'phono' CANNOT be connected to the CD or other input without an additional pre-amp.

I found it necessary to replace a fancy high line Technics receiver after 12 years of faultless performance. This Teac AG-790A was the ONLY receiver on the market that had all the controls operating as I needed them to operate.

As far as the performance as an amp goes, there are doubtless better ones available at higher prices. There are apparently NONE at any price that have the combination of features the AG-790 has, however. It works very well, none the less, and it is inexpennsive. Judging from the size and design of the heat sink and the attatched solid state output devices, I doubt this receiver REALLY has the advertised RMS output. At least not for long. Saying that, however, it WILL rattle the windows if so desired.
I give it a wholehearted 'thumbs up' as it was the only choice I had considering its (somewhat outdated) features missing on other 'new' units. It's exactly what I wanted, and the overall performance is VERY satisfactory.
