Excellent monitor........2007-04-27

The picture is excellent for an LCD. It has lots of different video inputs. It's huge and has high resolution. It's bright and has excellent contrast and color. I want a second one to go dual screen. I have no regrets at all about buying this monitor.

There are some minor negatives but they're largely nit picking.

While it has PIP, it only works while one of the computer inputs is the main screen and it can only show one of the composite/s-video/component inputs in the PIP which must be selected via the menus.

When looking at a 1080i signal over the component input, it apparently either stretches the image to 1200 pixels high (throwing off the aspect ratio) or it stretches in both directions which would require cutting off a little bit on the sides. Either way it's wrong. 1920x1080 on a 1920x1200 16:10 screen should be 1920x1080 16:9 with 60 pixel high black bars on the top and bottom (letterboxed).

I tried hooking my cable box up to the DVI port, the box complains that the monitor doesn't support HDCP and refuses to work which is rather irritating. I've read on a few sites that this monitor supports HDCP so I suppose it could be a problem with the box but I suspect it's the monitor.

It would be nice if it had a remote control to modify settings.

The USB <->computer connection should be on the back of the monitor; not on the side.

I spend all day every day in front of my computers, & have been doing so for 25 years. This monitor is the best monitor I have ever seen, bar none. There are no dead pixels. It is bright, with no ghosting. It has become my preferred venue for watching movies. The included software works well at re-orienting the monitor to vertical mode or horizontal mode. It also adapts nicely to 16:9 formats or 4:3 formats. It is very easy to set up, with a plethora of cabling options. My one complaint is the hokey USB cable that projects from the left side of the monitor. But I'm happy to live with that, given all of the other virtues this monitor exhibits.

I got my new 244t 2 days ago. My previous monitor was a Samsung 213t, which served me well, thus I was ready to trust Samsung again. The 213t was a great monitor, and before I saw this new one in action, I thought it was quite good for gaming too (it was, of course, but switching back from this one it isn't anymore). But looking at how things move and are displayed by this new monster is like going from night to day. Pictures are the sharpest I have ever seen, World of Warcraft simply looks fantastic at 1920x1200 and most of all there isn't the slightest amount of ghosting even in the most problematic situations (using DVI, fo course). Add to this all inputs and configuration options you could ask for, and that's it. Don't miss it...it's more expensive than equivalent models from other companies, but it's worth.

This monitor is simply gorgeous. Crisp gaming and crisp text, no ghosting, AND it is HDTV compliant for now and future standards when the new version of MS windows comes out (something the Dell and other competing 24" LCD's do not have). Its brighter and better color than "cheaper" gateway and Dell 24-inchers that people like CNET seem to be in love with. I have seen the Dell 24" and next to this monitor the colors in the Dell looked washed out and it is not as bright. Also Dell 24" monitors have had a problem with the power supply (loud high pitch sound) that is widely reported and I have heard many complaints of the runaround trying to get it corrected. Go for high quality, its worth the few extra dollars.

You have to see this monitor to believe it. Bright, excellent contrast, and black actually looks really black.

I agree with USB hub comment stated by other reviewer on Amazon. Its the only thing that could be improved. But I did not buy this monitor because I needed two more USB ports.

Samsung has an excellent reputation for high quality LCD's. Zero dead pixels on mine when it arrived. Just keep in mind that you need a decent video card to get the most out of this (or any other 24") monitor. Make sure you are aware of the video card you have and if it will be adequate.

Got my monitor yesterday, and I have but a small comment to make, since I need to get back to some serious fun using my newest electronic device :o)

This monitor has by far exceeded my expectations in regards to design and quality. It not only looks good, but it came with out-of-the-box 100% perfect configuration. The colors are clear, black is really black and the fast responsetime leaves absoluely no trace at all when things are flying around your screen.

I'm still not quite grasping the magnitude of this screen, but rest asure that I will spend a fair amount of time in front of this 24" wonder the next couple of years.

The only minus to this product is the incredible stupid usb hub that they have placed on the left side of the monitor. The idea is good, since it's very easy to plug in your usb key or whatever you'd feel like. The bad thing is that they have placed the plug which connects the hub with your computer the same place, which means that if you want to use the hub, you need to live with a black cable sticking out at an 90 degree angle midway down the left side of your newly bought minimalistic marvel... That is not going to happen in my house! The cure - forget about the lousy 2 port hub and start enjoying what ever you enjoy doing with your computer only this time it'll be bigger, better and just all out breathtaking.

Solid product.......2007-09-16

Quick start is 5 easy steps to startup. Worked as advertised on power-up. NO problems with basic operations. VPN setup can be complicated, but not because of this product - it is an advanced lan concept. All of my applications worked, including some high security applications. Load balancing takes a little tuning but results in impressive speed gains. Test disconnect of a WAN had no effect on connections, other than VPN, which had to be reinitalized. Highly recommended.

The device is great. Firewall, One-to-One NAT, failover or load balance WAN links are great. Site to site VPN tunnell re-establish quickly in a line failure.

I'm no shill for anyone, and I had to post a review after reading the older reviews listed.

I've been a Linksys Router user forever and I didn't want to change, but after my router melted one day (no clue why), I had to make a change and a load balancing router looked like a good way to go.

Amazingly enough, all the little irritations I had with my LAN went away after installing this (something that took about 2 minutes).

No more weird connection drops, no more constantly needing to reboot my router (this from my ISP) because nobody could identify why we couldn't access the internet. This thing looses something, it hunts it down and pushes it back to my machines.

I didn't understand all the things it will do when I purchased it, but was very glad to find this could grow with me as I needed it.

I guess the best compliment I can pay this unit is that I'm looking for the next model up so I can send this unit to another branch while I buy a new one for my office.

This is one of the best routers under $500 I've seen.

Great Product.......2007-04-10

I noticed all the negative reviews and was surprised. I'm not an IT pro.
I read the directions, installed the router and it worked as advertised.
I've been using it for over a year without a single complaint. I called Support one time. They answered immediately and answered my question quickly and professionally. A question, which if i'd read the manual more carefully, I'd have been able to answer myself. My problem, for the curious, was in connecting to a site that blocks multiple simultaneous logins to the same account with differing IP addresses. High security sites often impose this type of acess restriciton. A quick visit to the setup page was all it took to toggle the appropropriate switch and gain access.

I swear you don't have to be an IT pro to use this product successfully. Appearently, however, it helps not to be an idiot.

Advanced Features Work as Advertised.......2006-05-01

We'd never heard of this company, but in early 2005 we needed a dirt cheap and reliable way to add redundant IPSEC VPN among mulitiple datacenters. These boxes offered the right feature set and the right price.

After configuring the first of 10 XC-DPG503's through the web interface, it was a trivial matter to grab the config file as a text file, update it for each additional datacenter, and apply the updated file to each of the other 9 Xincoms.

We shipped them to 10 datacenters, and everything worked perfectly the first time.

The original appliances have now been in use well over a year, and we've added several more. We're also using them for our offices, to balance between T1 lines and business cable-modem or business DSL lines. Impressively, every feature works perfectly, even though the T1 is static IPs and the cable/DSL lines are dynamic. In any given office, we can decide how to route SMTP (outbound mail) traffic, we can map VOIP ports for multiple SIP phones, and we can even support inter-office network gaming. Naturally, the DMZ features of the device work very well, supporting the mapping of specific ports on public IPs to private development servers.

At one office, a single Xincom XC-DPG503 manages 25 workstations, 10 servers, 6 SIP phones, 4 Xbox 360s (w/ Xbox Live accounts), 4 Media Center Edition boxes, 4 broadband connected Tivos, a Microsoft Exchange server, and both inbound and outbound VPN tunnels for the appropriate internal subnets and external datacenters.

While all this could be done with Linux servers, these are inexpensive appliances, with super-fast (a few seconds) reboots, that don't mind adverse environments (in one office, one of them is installed in a boiler room) that would give a "server" fits. No Linux admin is necessary.

One note: I see many negative reviews here. These are ADVANCED devices. If you're a Linksys, Dlink, Belkin, etc. user, these are probably not for you. If you don't know the diff between IPSEC, PPTP, etc for VPNs, not for you. Don't know how the handshake process for establishing an IPSEC tunnel works, not for you. But if you do know those things, and don't want to waste valuable time setting up a Linux box or Windows 2003 to handle these things, these are fantastic.
