The ThinkCentre S50 Series desktops feature a tool-free chassis design, which simplifies and enhances usability. ThinkCentre S50 desktops also feature an innovative "caddy" that surrounds the hard disk drive, locking it into place without the use of tools or screws. Rubber bumpers on the caddy decrease vibration and deliver quieter operation. Other mechanical improvements have been made to the overall design of the ThinkCentre PCs, including improved airflow and reduced noise.The ThinkCentre S50 is a full-feature enterprise PC offering image and platform stability in an extremely small form factor. The ThinkCentre S50 is 62% smaller than a standard desktop. It allows for flexible placement, either horizontally or vertically. If it was at all possible I would give this contraption a rating of "0" stars. It worked well the first day, and then as stated in the other reviews promplty went of the fritz. Being an engineer I took it apart to find out if I could see what was wrong. The plastic casing was indeed not waterproof! There was no rubber lining to prevent water from entering and so it promptly shorted out. Not only that, the thing refused to turn off and picked up all sorts of random radio transmission. This piece of junk should be considered illegal for how poorly it works, correction, formerly worked.

. . . that's putting it nicely. The CD player - when it works - skips if you even so much as look at it. The sound quality is same as those tin-can string "telephones" that we used to make when we were kids. My expectations were pretty low when I ordered it because of the low price, but if I knew then what I know now of this product they couldn't give it to me.

There's another product that looks *almost* like this, but also include a fog-free mirror, more CD features, and better sound quality. Go for that one instead!

Wouldn't turn off!.......2004-01-22

This radio lasted 3 days in my shower. Then suddenly it just wouldn't turn off. Even though the power was supposedly turned off, it would suddenly emit noise. I finally had to remove the batteries...and return it to the store!

This item is a waste of money. I purchased this item last year and it survived in my shower all of one day. I returned it, got another, and it too died in one shower. I didn't even open the cd player.. I only wanted the radio part to listen to traffic reports before I left for work.

Apparently it's not waterproof. The electronics almost immediately went on the fritz as soon as water came within a two-foot radius of it. It was mounted on the wall in a place where it wouldn't get "soaked," and it still didn't make it through a complete shower without dogging out.

After the second loss, I gave up. Don't bother with this one. Its cheap price doesn't make it a great bargain, it just reflects the quality of the workmanship. It's cheap and shoddy, through and through.

I purchased two of Viking's PC10032X64-CL3 256MB PC100 DIMMs in order, of course to speed up my machine, replacing a 64 MB DIMM.

I am running an AMD-K6-2 (350) CPU with Microsoft's Windows Millennium Edition (ME)operating system, and a 20.4 gig C hard drive (which I also purchased from Amazon.com). I have the Diamond 220 and the Diamond Monster 3D II video accelerator, and a Soundblaster 2000 sound system.

The DIMMs installed with little problem, but I did have to slide out my C harddrive to get at the slots. I found that it is important to seat them firmly and make sure that they are completely seated, after a couple of failures of the machine to recognize them.

The computer immediately checked and read the new RAM, and everything seemed to work correctly. However, upon re-booting it misread the RAM and only recognized one DIMM. I think the problem is with the operating system rather than the DIMMs. I have been experiencing frequent lock-ups lately with Windows ME, and suspect a corrupt file somewhere. I get error messages with each lockup which mean nothing to me, since I am neither a programmer nor technician.

All-in-all, these seem to be good products at an astoundingly low price. Be sure, however, that your machine is a PC100. If in doubt, check your present DIMM or SIMM. It should tell you that it is for a PC100.

If you go to viewsonics site, they are no longer listing any information about the pro series. I bought a p220fb a year and a half ago and now im having problems with the color fading in and out at random times and a green bleeding effect in the right bottom corner. Contacting support immediately got me an RMA number (no in depth details needed). They have no replacements, and want 14 business days to repair it. I checked around on some newsgroups (sci.electronics.repair) and many people are having repeating problems with internal components burning out. I would definately stay clear of this and at least buy the G220f since you will probably have better luck getting a replacement if it pukes.
