Works great.......2006-12-26

I've used these at two different companies and they always worked great. Having one at home makes working from home great especially when using a KVM with your home PC.
Occasionally I'll see PS2 mice that have trouble working with these. Going with a newer PS2 or USB mouse solves this problem.

not thinkpad quality, disappointing.......2007-09-15

I bought it to extend my thinkpad keyboard experience, which was wonderful, to my new Toshiba TabletPC. It has about the same looking and layout as my old thinkpad laptop, which is what I expected.

However, the build quality is poor, compared to the one mounted on the thinkpad laptop and to the mac at my place. The functions keys on the top are shaky. I got a chance to detach some keypads from both the laptop and this keyboard. The plastic components suspending/mouning the keypads on this keyboard are poorly made, tend to be very soft.

These top-row keys are dull as well, not picking up every stroke. Especially bad is the "delete" key, which works only if I hit it with extra attention. I found this to be very distracting.

Also, motion components beneath the keypads seem not well lubricated, squeaking in quiet nights.

For a price around $90 and such a quality, I will hesitate to recommend it to anyone, except that you cannot live without a thinkpad keyboard.

Nice little keyboard........2007-08-28

I am a fan of keyboards with a short keystroke, and this one fits the bill. I am using it on my desktop, and it's nice to have the same keyboard as my thinkpad. The touchpad and trackpoint work well although I also use a mouse. The only complaint I have is that the USB cable is too short to reach my tower under the desk, so I had to put an extension on it. The keyboard comes with a nice soft case. I just wish I could find something to use it for, because this keyboard never leaves my desk.

Not IBM Quality.......2007-08-06

Like a couple of the other reviews, the features on this keyboard are great. I love not having to take my hands off the keyboard to move the cursor.

I was expecting the keyboard to be the same (quality and feel) as my older IBM A31p and A21p, but this is certainly not the case. It might be the quality of newer Lenovo laptops (I don't know since I don't own one).

As another reviewer points out, the keys are not uniform in feel. Some of the keys require so much throw that I find my self having to hit the key multiple times (Specifically Insert/Delete/HOME/END/PgUP/PgDN). I don't have issues with the Dell Precision M70, Kensington Slim Type Keyboard or Logitech DiNovo.

Out of the box without drivers, the keyboard and input devices work in both Vista and XP.

For some strange reason, on the machine with Windows Vista, the keyboard always enables the num-lock key at the login screen. The same machine has XP SP2 and this does not occur... Could be my hardware.

Too bad the logitech dinovo doesn't have a trackpoint.

Lots of Features But Not Great Quality........2007-07-25

Summary

I ordered one of these hoping that it might meet the same quality standards set by the last ThinkPad Laptop I owned, and whilst I was impressed by the features and ease of setup, I was not impressed by the quality of the item.

Features & Quality

The keyboard is a very compact size and fits a normal USB plug. Out of the box, with no additional drivers, the keyboard, trackpoint, and trackpad were all supported by my Ubuntu Feisty box.

However, the key feel quality was poor, and patchy across the keyboard, with an inconsistent feel between keys, and a generally flimsy feel. For the money, I would expect a more solid feel, much more like a real laptop.

In comparison, the keyboard on my Dell M65 is rock solid and *extremely* high quality in feel. In turn this is beaten out by the Mac Book Pro keyboard.

Trackpoint for the desktop.......2007-07-05

I've been using the keyboard for over two weeks now and I am glad I purchased it. I'm using it primarily as a keyboard for my desktop Mac -- not as a travel keyboard. The pros are:
1. Small footprint -- I have limited desk space, so having a small keyboard was critical.
2. ThinkPad feel -- I use a ThinkPad for work and love the feel of the keyboard. This keyboard has that same feel.
3. A TrackPoint for the desktop -- I love having mouse control without having to take my hands off of home row.

The cons are:
1. No Mac drivers. It works, but you don't get all of the keyboard's functionality when its attached to a Mac.

Overall, it lived up to my expectations for the keyboard and I would buy it again.

The battery arrived in a timely fashion but like the original, does not provide the near 5 hours of battery life. It has expanded somewhat, but I'm still only getting close to 3 hours.

GREAT screen.......2005-05-07

I originally got this lcd from my dad. He wasn't using it, so I decided to use it. When I had plugged it into power and my computer I tried it. One word describes my thought when it was on: WOW! This screen had amazing quality, and I have proof. This is true because my computer ( an IBM thinkpad T42) had a screen with a resolution of 1400x1050 and even though this lcd had much less pixels, it still had amazing clarity. I personally think this is one of the best screens available.

Had it for a While.......2003-12-22

Best investment on my computer - I spend a lot of time reading on the computer, and this has made my eyes relax.

My parents have the VX900 19" LCD, but I highly prfer this one. More widescreen so movies look better. I have the DVI connection going, and while playing UT 2003 I had ZERO ghosting problems.

Wow, this flat panel is great.......2003-08-15

I had to replace my 17" crt, so I started shopping for a flat panel. I decided on the vg191, and don't have any regrets. It's only a few days old now, but so far I love it. Nice big picture, no dead pixels, very bright and vivid. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a big flat panel that will not break the bank buying it.

Flickers Incessantly, Viewsonic Support Has Not Responded.......2003-02-12

I bought this monitor because of all the excellent reviews it
got, because of Viewsonic's service reputation, past satisfaction with Viewsonic products, and because it looked good in a store. However, on my machine (a Dual Athlon with a Radeon 9700 card) it flickers incessantly, making it useless. Viewsonic has not responded with assistance or a warrantly replacement despite my submitting 3 requests with them.

When it works, it looks nice for the price, but since it is
unviewable about 50% of the time (the flicker sets in after 2-6 hours of uptime), that's not so great. I'd like to have given
it a good review, but it's hosed, and Viewsonic's support has
gotten very unresponsive since I last had a problem with one of
their monitors. I am reconsidering whether or not to purchase
any of their monitors in the future based on this experience.

An overall excellent monitor, especially for this price........2002-03-18

Overall this is a very nice monitor. It is very bright---so bright that I decided to turn down the brightness from the factory setting. Colors are vibrant and rich. We have two dogs, and photographs of the black one in particular are stunning---much better looking than on the Sony CRT that this monitor replaces. Photographic detail is excellent too. Text is very clear and sharp, and I appreciate the large size at this resolution. Since text was the main reason I decided I needed an LCD display, I am quite pleased. I also like the fact that the height is adjustable, since it makes working with bifocals more comfortable. There is one pixel that seems to be stuck in the on position, but it is only noticeable if you search for it while the screen is blacked out. The monitor passes the tests at monitorsdirect.com/toolkit with ease, including the pixel response time test there. However, if I drag a black cursor rapidly across a white background, I can see a small trailing blur. Despite its MVA technology, the monitor doesn't seem to be faster overall than my recollection of the Apple displays. Still, movies and DVD's play well. The bezel surrounding the display is somewhat old-fashioned looking, and seems to be in a style more suitable for a CRT than an LCD display. In particular, it is sculptured to have a surface that curves somewhat toward the viewer in the center, and this seems to cause an optical illusion which makes the screen itself look a little curved (it isn't really, of course). Probably this effect would be less noticeable with the black model, which wasn't available when I ordered mine. It probaby deserves 4.5 stars, but since the system won't accept that and since it's not quite perfect, I'll give it a 4.
