Let's clear up the confusion..........2006-07-20

I am writing this because many people will be influenced by the review that Mike left, and it's not really fair to the camera.

Digital camera's that have built in memory will use that memory when there is no memory card installed. It is generally 8mb or 16mb, and is only able to store a handfull of pictures before it is full. The only way to get the pictures off the camera is to plug in the USB cable between the camera and computer and turn on the camera, and then move or copy the pictures either with Windows Explorer or with the camera software, if it came with software for managing pictures.

When you install a memory card, it completely disables the built in memory and the camera will only see the memory card. All picures will then be stored on the card. The advantage to the card is twofold. Mainly, you can buy a card that is much larger than the built in memory, so you can take a whole lot more pictures before you run out of room. You can then connect the USB cable and turn on the camera, and move or copy the pictures just like you did before. The other big advantage with the memory card is you can pop it into a card reader, and move or copy the pictures that way. The camera doesn't have to be turned on, thus saving your batteries. The card reader is often faster at transferring the pictures, too.

So the pictures you took with the memory card not installed should still be there, you just have to remove the card and turn the camera back on before the camera will see them...

There are a few camera's that will let you move the pictures in the onboard memory to the card, but the vast majority don't let you do that...

Finding my pictures.......2006-01-01

I took several pictures with this camera and now I can't find them on the camera. Also, I put in a card and when I went to print the pictures, the machine I was using said no pictures were found.

It was a great camera .. it took great quality photos. the the flash sometimes dosent work to well. After a few weeks it stoped working all together- it wouldnt turn on or anything. my advise - get a different camera even if costs a little more.

I actually got this as a christmas present -- and I haven't put it down yet.

The picture quality is amazing you can get up to 5MP for a picture or video capture!! 5MP! Most Digital Camcorders are around 3MP... so that'll bring a smile to your face.

I have recorded several videos and transfered them to DVD, and it is crystal clear when viewing it on TV. The only problem is keeping my hand steady, but a tripod fixes that in no problem.

Easy to use software, and camera menus. You even have nifty Black and White or Sephia settings. Also have web cam and direct print capabilities.

But for any first time buyers, if you get a digital camera must buy a memory card. Once you start taking pictures/video you won't want to stop!

I bought this camera for my grandson.
I am very dissapointed in how this camera works. When you turn the camera on the flash is automatically off. You then have to select the flash on each time the camera is turned on.
Also you can not review the pictures taken in the camera lcd screen.You have to upload them to the computer.
This is suppose to be a point and shot camera.
I would not buy this camera again.

Never worked, ate new batteries within 15 minutes of installation. Never got the first pic... Do not buy!

Not too bad for a child.......2005-12-14

I previously bought at a RitzCamera store a $25 camera for my 6-year old son and quickly returned it (The Kidz Cam Digital Camera Kit by Digital Concepts) which was incredibly flimsy and cheap, advertised that it doubled as a videocam but actually just took several jerky pictures in a row, plus had an awful English translation of the manual.
Then 11/05 I tried this VuPoint camera when it was on sale for $40. Had to buy an SD card and decided to buy a AA batter recharger. It takes fairly good pictures outside but indoor pictures can be pretty blurry. The night pictures are worse than I would expect given the claim on 3.1 mp. But there is a plus - the camera takes good little movies outside (video, no audio). I think you play them back using QuickTime. The on button takes some strength to rotate. But in general I feel that it is not as flimsy and breakable as other kids' cameras, and would feel comfortable letting him take the camera on a field trip or to camp. We are hoping it will end up cheaper than buying a series of disposable 35-mm cameras.

I bought this camera at a supersale for $50. I wanted a nice camera for my 5 year old but didn't want to blow $20 on a kids camera which I knew had poor picture quality and cumbersome software that usually don't work. I thought if I bought a low quality adult's camera, and 3.1 MP at that, at $50 to boot, then I can't go wrong. I was very pleased because for $50, my kid got a digital camera with lcd screen, flash, and video capability (the video has no sound), plus it uses AA batteries which are easy to find, and SD card expansion. I bought a 256mb SD card for $9.99 after rebates. The quality of the pictures at night indoors were okay IF you used the flash at 4-6 ft distance. When I did not use flash, the pictures were dark. I turned on all the lights and tried without flash and got a reasonably good image. Lots of fun for my boy, but if you need to take pictures of an important event, don't rely on this. As a backup emergency camera make sure you use the flash always, and the pictures will be okay . It is also good for ebay picture taking as long as you don't need closeups. I haven't used it yet in daylight but it is much much better than a kiddie camera like nick jr or barbie. Compared to the pictures of my old Epson 1 mp camera from 6 years ago, the Epson still wins hands down. The body of the camera is plastic and feels like a toy. But it comes with a camera bag, carrying strap, software, and USB cable, self timer capability and short video clips plus LCD screen. A great deal for the price I paid for ($50).

No problems here.......2005-07-08

Unlike the unfortunate experiences faced by some, I have been very pleased with my VuPoint camera ever since I got it 3 months ago. Not only is it incredibly easy to carry where ever you go, the quality of the pictures is comparable to most 3.1 MP cameras. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for the best bang for their buck.

HORRIBLE-do NOT buy.......2005-01-21

As you can problably see- this camera is not worth buying!

I bought it because I wanted a nice tiny camera (I have the wonderful digital rebel) in addition to my real camera, but it takes HORRIBLE pictures, and it is NOT 6mp as stated. After using it for 1 month, I had to return it- it was just awful! I went for a Canon SD10 instead- I love Canon!

There are too many cons on this camera to list. My advice-DO NOT BUY!

It is a PIECE OF CRAP!!.......2005-01-16

I bought this camera from another store. I thought it was great from the advertisement and reviews given at that store (CampusHolidays.com). It was indeed misleading and I am very disappointed. For those students who received emails from CampusHolidays.com, I would suggest that you don't even buy any product from them. They are so unreliable and the customer services were horrible... I do recommend if y'all wanna buy something by it from Amazon because the reviews are at least honest.
Coming back to this camera, I test out the camera, it was awful, the LCD was too small and very gritty screen and also if y'all print it out it's gritty unlike other digital cameras that I used before that is 3.5 pixels. I thought this camera was great because of it's 6.0 MegaPixels advertisement but I was wrong.. it's not worth it, and if you already buy it.. give it away or chuck it away in the trash. At one point, I try to delete a picture and the screen just turn blank and I've to open the battery in order to restart it because the on/off button won't work either..
So guys, don't buy this digital camera.. the advertisement and the hoopla are false..

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP made camera.......2007-04-09

The internal memory in this camera will only let you take ONE picture at
highest quality (vs 14 for my 3.2mp Kodak camera). Plus, the picture
quality seems to start at somewhere below the quality of my Kodak's
LOWEST PICTURE QUALITY setting & goes downhill fast from there.

You can use this camera if the lower picture quality doesn't bother you,
but be sure you use an SD card with it & rechargeable batteries. Myself,
I don't see why you would spend money on this camera when you can get a
good brand that is SO MUCH BETTER.

FYI to last review...any digital camera will eat up batteries. Get a good
fast battery recharger & a handfull of rechargeable batteries for any
digital camera.

Battery problems.......2006-04-27

The batteries in this camera, while easy to find AA, don't last more than a day at most. Everytime you go to take a picture, the batteries must be replaced. According to customer service, this is just "the way the camera is" and they suggest taking the batteries out for storage and replacing them before it is used. Not particularly practical for anyone, let alone the young kid that is supposed to be using it. Very frustrating.

Horrible Camera Don't waste your Money!!.......2006-01-15

This camera was by far the worst digital camera I have ever had in my hands. I bought this camera today at a drugstore for 78.00 dollars. I decided after having it in my posession for a mere 30 minutes that I would return it for a refund of my money. I am not one for returning items, but I can hold onto this camera for much longer.

Pros
-I'll be as positive as I can be, it was inexpensive.

Cons
-The screen resolution is horrible. There are lines running across the screen and everything is so dark, a blind man could see my sister better than I could.
-When you use the flash, the person is washed out and there ar no disinguishable features on their face (Nose, mouth, eyebrows, ect.)
-The blue coloring is cheap looking and chips off very easily.
-The pictures are unrecognizable if you do not use the flash, and even then, you can't tell whether its a picture of your mother or and igloo.
-the Buttons are confusing and the camera dies when you are trying to delete your digusting photos in the first place.

Once again I repeat do not waste your time, or money on this camera. Its is a cheap, extremely low quality camera. No, this camera has NO QUALITY!! Quick press the backspace before you too have to go through the fiery passionate frustration I went through.
